The Ladycats ended the 3rd annual Ladycat Invitational the way they started it; in dominant fashion! Completing the tournament with a 2-0-2 mark, the Ladycats opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over Chapel Hill, and ended it with a 4-0 win against Jacksonville, ties came against Terrell and Texas High 2-2 and 0-0, respectively. Mallori Hardaway and Lacee Blakeley each scored 4 times, while Alexis Smith notched 2 goals and Amanda Southerland added a last minute goal to tie Terrell in the Championship. Kayla Tolar and Hope Brantley added 3 assists each, with Liz Lopez, Jisela Robles, Lacee Blakeley and Mallori Hardaway each providing an assist apiece. Emily Lawson, Liz Lopez, Olivia Stanton, Kendall Creel, Maddie Grimm, Madison Simmons, and Audrey Dotson anchored a defense that continues to give consistently great effort.
"Our defense has been consistently good all year long, and I feel like we're starting to get things worked out up top. The key to our success is the tremendous effort the girl's have given every time they take the field. This has been an extremely challenging pre-district schedule, and it hasn't phased them." The Ladycats are 6-5-1 heading into the pre-district finale in Athens on Tuesday. "Our record is not indicative of how well we've played, and that's how it should be. District is the beginning of a new season, and we're prepared for that."
